pub(crate) struct SourceSpanCache(Option<(LocalDefId, SpanData)>);Expand description
A single-entry cache for a SpanData, to optimize a particular scenario: when iterating
through child spans (e.g. during encoding/decoding/hashing), many of those spans will have the
same parent span. In the case where that parent span is interned (e.g. the parent is a const
literal item exceeding MAX_LEN bytes of source code), this cache avoids having to fetch the
parent’s SpanData from the interner (which involves TLS, locking, etc.) over and over. A
single entry is enough for an extremely high hit rate.

Note: Most layout information is completely unstable and may even differ between compilations. The only exception is types with certain repr(...) attributes. Please see the Rust Reference's “Type Layout” chapter for details on type layout guarantees.
